How To Put Your Videos Onto PSP
Sony’s amazing electronic entertainment kit, the PlayStation Portable (PSP), is one of the most versatile devices out there. Whether it’s music, games, or video, this little gem can handle it all. Surprisingly, not everyone is using it to its full potential. Out of all my friends who own a PSP, none of them watch movies on it! This seemed odd to me, until I realized they didn’t actually know how to do it! It’s really not that hard to put videos on a PSP, so stick with me, and I’ll show you how. Maybe I can finally get my friends to read this article instead of asking me questions all the time!
Step 1: Ensure You Have Enough Memory
The biggest practical issue that keeps people from putting videos on their PSP is a lack of free memory. There’s no getting around it’if you’re serious about putting videos on your PSP, you’ll need to invest in the biggest memory stick you can afford. A 512MB stick is the absolute minimum, but more storage will give you greater flexibility for saving movies and other media files.
Step 2: Connect Your PSP to Your Computer
To transfer videos to your PSP, you’ll need access to a computer and a USB cable to connect the two devices. An internet connection is helpful but not absolutely necessary unless you need to download the videos beforehand. Here’s how you do it:
- Start by turning off your PSP. Connect it to your computer using the USB cable.
- Once the connection is made, turn your PSP back on.
Step 3: Set Up Your PSP for Video Transfer
Now that your PSP is connected to your computer, you need to make sure it’s ready to accept video files:
- On your PSP, navigate to the Settings menu and press the X button to link the PSP to your computer.
- On your computer, go to My Computer (or This PC on Windows 10/11), and you should see the PSP listed as a new volume.
- Open the PSP’s memory card, then open the folder named PSP. Inside this folder, you’ll need to create another folder named MP_ROOT.
- Within the MP_ROOT folder, create a new folder called 100mnv01. This is where you’ll place your video files.
Step 4: Transfer Your Videos
To watch videos on your PSP, the video files need to be in MP4 format. If your videos aren’t already in this format, you can search for video conversion software to convert your videos to MP4. Once your videos are ready, follow these steps:
- Save the MP4 video files into the 100mnv01 folder you created earlier.
- After the files are saved, you can safely disconnect your PSP from your computer.
Step 5: Watch Your Movies on PSP
Now that your videos are transferred, it’s time to enjoy them! Go to your PSP’s video section, find the file in the memory card, and select it to start watching your movie. It’s as easy as that!
Extra Tips
If you want to convert your DVDs to MP4 format so you can watch them on your PSP, you’ll need special software to rip and convert the DVD files. There are many free and paid programs available online that can help with this process. A quick internet search should help you find the right tool for your needs.
