What Is Block Puzzle?
Block Puzzle is a timeless falling-blocks puzzle game that has captivated millions of players since the 1980s. The concept is simple: geometric pieces made of four blocks drop from the top of the board, and your job is to arrange them into complete horizontal lines. Every time you fill a line with no gaps, it disappears, you earn points, and the remaining blocks shift down. The challenge grows as pieces fall faster with every level.
How to Play
Desktop Controls
Use the left and right arrow keys to move the falling piece sideways. Press the up arrow to rotate the piece. The down arrow moves the piece one row down for a soft drop, and the spacebar performs a hard drop, sending the piece straight to the bottom. Press P at any time to pause the game.
Mobile Controls
Swipe left or right to move the piece horizontally. Swipe down for a soft drop. Tap the screen to rotate the piece. You can also use the on-screen directional pad that appears at the bottom for precise control, including a dedicated hard drop button.
Scoring and Levels
Your score depends on how many lines you clear at once. Clearing a single line earns base points, but clearing two, three, or four lines simultaneously rewards you with progressively higher scores. Clearing four lines at once is the ultimate move and delivers the biggest point bonus. Your score is also multiplied by your current level, so surviving longer means every line is worth more.
The game advances one level for every ten lines cleared. With each new level, pieces fall a little faster, demanding quicker reactions and sharper planning. Your best score is saved automatically so you can always try to beat your personal record.
Tips and Strategy
Keep the Board Flat
Avoid building uneven towers. A flat surface gives you more options for placing every new piece. When the board becomes jagged with tall columns and deep gaps, it becomes much harder to recover.
Plan for Four-Line Clears
Leave one column open on the side and wait for the long straight piece to drop it in for a four-line clear. This is the highest-scoring move in the game and can dramatically boost your total.
Use the Ghost Piece
The translucent outline at the bottom of the board shows you exactly where your piece will land. Use it to plan rotations and avoid misplacements before committing to a drop.
Do Not Neglect Rotation
Every piece can be rotated into different orientations. A piece that seems useless in its current rotation might fit perfectly once turned. Experiment with rotations before placing each block.
